The police is investigating a Japanese Car dealer company Beforward for allegedly defrauding would-be vehicle buyers of millions of shillings after they ordered cars through its agents in Uganda.
The scam, which prompted a slew of police complaints, has seen the Company close its offices in Kampala, with some of its agents now on the run as the police begin to hunt for them in their hideouts.
It’s reported that over 50 people have come out to accuse the company, and some of them have filed cases at the Jinja road police station.
The scam has been confirmed by Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango who says complainants deposited money ranging from Shs50m to Shs100m with hope that they will complete the money when the cars come.
He adds that at least two people working with the company have been arrested and hunt for the directors is ongoing
