The Buganda Road Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon remanded Teddy Nalubowa, a supporter of the largest opposition political party in Uganda (by representation in the 11th Parliament of Uganda) to Luzira Prison on charges of offensive communication. Nalubowa, also known as Tracy Manule Bobiholic appeared before Buganda Road Grade One Magistrate, Marion Mangeni, and charged with one offense. However, she denied the charged.

It is alleged that on August 23, 2022 at Ndeeba, Rubaga Division in the Kampala District, Nalubowa willfully and repeatedly used electronic communication ( Facebook and TikTok) to disturb the Peace or right of Privacy of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

According to prosecution, Nalubowa shared a message “Tumwine finally you have died but you died long time and your boss President Museveni will also die, you will die one by one and we shall celebrate” and the Prosecutors say, there was no purpose for legitimate communication in this.

After denying the charges, the Prosecution led by Ivan Kyazze informed Court that inquiries in this matter are almost complete, and Nalubowa who did not have legal representation was subsequently remanded until September 26, 2022.

Reacting to the court decision, Bobi Wine said: “After 13 days of incommunicado detention, our comrade #TracyBobiholic was smuggled into Court this afternoon in the absence of lawyers and sent to Luzira Prison. Charged with offensive communication. We’re yet to speak to her & understand what they did to her in detention.”

However, Nalubowa’s social media and her organic photos (taken from court today) could pass for two different individuals.
