Speaker Rt. Hon. Anita Among’s bodyguard in hot soup after flying to the USA to attend the 34th Uganda North America Association (UNAA) convention without her consent.
Police says they have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which Parliament Speaker Anita Among’s chief bodyguard mysteriously disappeared two weeks ago.
Aggrey Aruho, an assistant superintendent of police by rank, allegedly flew to United States (US) where he travelled to attend the 34th Uganda North America Association (UNAA) convention, an event which took place in San Francisco in the state of California from September 2 to September 5.
It is however alleged that some staff of the House may have facilitated ASP Aruho to obtain a US visa to fly out without reference to, or knowledge, of Speaker Among.
Aruho’s report comes at a time when Among is being threatened by assassins whose intentions are not yet clear.
Last week, Among told Parliament members during plenary that her official motorcade was being trailed and she had received a report showing a plot to assassinate her.
“Whoever thinks he/she is going to assassinate Anita; I was put in this chair by God. If anybody wants it, I have my village to go to, but I will serve until I get tired,” Among said.
Police Speaks Out

He added, “We want to remind you that this is a protected investigation. We shall not elaborate on when and how the investigation is made till we have thoroughly come up with the findings.”
