Sudhir Leads From the Front at Muhoozi’s Birthday Charity Run

Renowned Ugandan business magnate Sudhir Ruparelia has once again demonstrated his philanthropic muscle, contributing a reported UGX 100 million toward the “Run For Hope” initiative held in celebration of the 52nd birthday of Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The contribution was confirmed by David Kabanda, Secretary General of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), who praised Sudhir as one of the “big-hearted Ugandans” championing the charity drive.

“Our patriotic investor Sudhir Ruparelia, Mr Abu Mukasa and State House stand out among the premium top funders of this initiative. This is the spirit of patriotism and commitment to national causes,” Kabanda remarked during the run.

But Sudhir’s involvement went beyond financial backing. In a show of personal commitment, the tycoon was among the earliest participants at the Kololo Independence Grounds, joining hundreds of Ugandans in the early morning hours to take part in the marathon.

The high-energy event drew a wide spectrum of participants, including political leaders, security officials, legislators, and business elites. Although Gen. Muhoozi was not physically present, he was represented by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, who officiated as chief guest.

Other notable figures in attendance included State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem and former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura, underscoring the event’s significance on Uganda’s social and political calendar.

Held under the theme “Run For Hope,” the marathon carried a deeper message beyond celebration. It spotlighted ongoing healthcare challenges in Uganda, including limited access to medical services, shortages of essential medicines, and a low doctor-to-patient ratio in many regions.

In that context, Sudhir Ruparelia’s contribution and active participation signal a growing trend of private sector leaders stepping into national conversations around social impact. His presence added both financial weight and symbolic influence to the initiative, reinforcing his reputation as not just a business powerhouse but also a key player in philanthropic and national development efforts.

As runners flooded Kololo in branded kits, the event evolved into more than just a birthday celebration it became a powerful blend of fitness, charity, and civic engagement. And at the center of it all was Sudhir, leading from the front, both in giving and in action.
